There are numerous health benefits that one gets if one stops smoking. But, the whole problem is how to stick to our resolution and stop smoking, forever?

Agreed, that it is not easy to stop smoking but by taking a few simple steps and strengthening our resolve it can be accomplished.

Firstly, you have to make a conscious decision to stop smoking. You have to analyze for yourself as to why you want to quit smoking. There must be valid reasons for it including, spoilt health or probably your becoming a social outcast. A look at the various benefits that you are to derive after you quit smoking will provide you the motivation and direction towards quitting. Weigh the pros and cons and take your decision.

You need to have a great deal of motivation behind the planning to quit so that your resolve to quit may not get weakened. Try and make a list of all the things that you like about smoking and all the things that you don't. You'll probably discover that the list of why-I-don't-like-smoking is longer than why-I-like-it. That itself might propel you to quit smoking.

Think about the people who quit smoking and prolong their lives which also take a turn for better. Why can't you do the same for yourself? Think of all the health benefits that you will enjoy and how the quality of your life will become better.

It is also very important to believe in yourself and your ability to quit. If need be, talk to somebody who can lend you support or a good hearing. Probably that person may also be able to offer you solutions and a pep talk on how to quit smoking.

These are some of the questions that you need to ask yourself.

Studies have shown that the more a person tries to quit, the better his resolve becomes. There is no need to be disappointed if you can not do it for the first time. Try, try and try till you succeed!
