Name it the way you like, whether passive smoking,
involuntary smoking, environment smoke or secondhand smoke, it is as
dangerous as active smoking. It occurs when the exhaled or ambient smoke
from one person's cigarette is inhaled by the other people who are
around him/ her.
Passive smoking involves
inhaling carcinogens, as well as toxic components, that are present in
second hand smoke. Carcinogens that are present in secondhand smoke
include benzene; 1, 3-butadiene; benzo[a]pyrene;
4-(methyinitrosamino)-1-(pyridyl)-1-butanone and many others harmful
components.
Numerous researches have been carried out to
determine the extent to which secondhand smoke can be harmful. Though
the extent of harm is still a topic under debate, the harmful effects
have been confirmed by various studies.
Secondhand smoke is more
harmful to children. If parents smoke in front of their children, they
not only get exposed to a culture which is not expected to be adopted by
them but they also become a victim of passive smoking.
Not only
children but all your near and dear ones who stay around you get
affected by the ill-effects of the smoke that you emit.
